Fiborn karst preserve

(See the Fiborn Quarry History page for details.) The Fiborn Karst Preserve is managed by the Fiborn Karst Preserve Committee of the MKC. It is the purpose of the MKC to manage and protect karst areas for scientific study and conservation education. These purposes are implemented by making MKC Preserves available, without charge, for public uses that are compatible with long-term preservation. The Michigan Karst Conservancy now protects this ghost town and its surroundings as a karst preserve and keeps it open to the public provided the rules on the sign above are followed.

The land was sold in 1987 to the Michigan Karst Conservancy which created the Fiborn Karst Preserve to protect the natural and historic value of the land.
